I am the Founder and Director of Yorschool, an independent online language school providing personalised academic, linguistic, cultural and pastoral support for international pupils and their families.

Alongside my work with Yorschool, I am Head of English as an Additional Language at Ampleforth College, a British independent boarding school in North Yorkshire. There, I support international pupils across the school

and work closely with subject teachers, tutors, boarding staff, parents, guardians, educational advisers and agents.

These roles remain professionally separate, but each strengthens the expertise I bring to international pupils and families. My current experience inside British boarding education gives me a detailed understanding of the academic, linguistic, cultural and pastoral challenges pupils may encounter.

Support throughout the journey

• Before arrival: entrance requirements and interviews, boarding vocabulary, classroom expectations, routines and confidence speaking with adults.

• During British education: Academic English, subject access, Cambridge IGCSE ESL, IELTS, confidence, belonging and communication.

• At key transitions: mock assessments, school changes, Sixth Form, university applications, seminars, presentations and independent study.

Bridging the gap between home and school

I help pupils navigate not only the English language, but also the cultural references, background knowledge, educational expectations, routines and relationships that British texts, lessons and conversations may assume. This helps them understand more deeply, ask for help, participate fully, express their own ideas and develop a genuine sense of belonging—without feeling that they must leave their own identity behind.
